GOOD TO KNOW

A guide to Drums

Choosing drums

  • Kit format. Distinguish acoustic drums, electronic kits and practice pads. Compare the sounds, connections and controls described for electronic models.
  • Setup space. Check the assembled footprint and adjustment ranges for stands and seats. Allow room for pedals, movement and access around the kit.
  • Included components. Read the itemised list for cymbals, pedals, sticks, stool, cables and power supply. A kit photograph may include accessories sold separately.

Comparing options

Compare a complete kit with individual drums or replacement parts before choosing. For an electronic setup, check headphone and speaker connections against the equipment you will use. For an acoustic setup, compare shell sizes and hardware rather than relying only on the number of pieces.

Questions about Drums

Does every drum kit include a stool and pedals?
No. Check the package contents for each component, including any kick pedal required for an electronic kit.
Can an electronic drum kit be used with headphones?
Only if the model supports a headphone output. Check the connection and whether headphones or an adapter are supplied.
