Choosing bed valances

  • Size and fit. Match the actual dimensions, including fitted-sheet depth and the size of quilt or pillow inserts.
  • Materials. Read the fibre composition and construction instead of assuming properties from a fabric name alone.
  • Contents and care. Check the number of pieces, closure type and washing or drying instructions.

Comparing options

Measure the actual mattress, quilt or pillow rather than relying only on a size name. Include the mattress depth when selecting fitted sheets and distinguish a cover set from a set supplied with filled inserts.

Questions about Bed Valances

Does a bedding set include inserts?
Only when the contents specify them. Covers and cases can be sold separately from inserts.
How do I match bedding to an existing bed or insert?
Compare the actual dimensions and any relevant pocket depth, closure or fit information.
