• Usable cooking area. Compare basket, tray or pot dimensions and portion capacity. A litre rating alone may not describe how food can be arranged.
• Controls and programs. Look for the cooking methods and adjustments you need rather than assuming every listed model has the same functions.
• Access and cleaning. Allow space to open lids or pull out baskets and check removable-part cleaning instructions.

Comparing options

A compact appliance may suit small batches but require several cooking cycles for a larger meal. Compare the shape of the basket or tray, access during cooking and the worktop space used while the appliance is open.
